Understanding the Three Window Settings in Your Scout Camper

Overview

Scout campers are designed with high-quality windows that provide flexible ventilation and weather protection. Each window has three settingsClosed, Vent, and Open — allowing you to balance airflow and comfort in any camping condition.

1. Closed Position

When the window is fully closed, the seal is tight against the frame to prevent dust, water, and air intrusion. Use this position when:

Always ensure the latch handles are pulled snug to maintain a proper weather seal.

2. Vent (Middle) Position

The Vent position provides limited airflow while maintaining a degree of weather protection. In this setting, the window opens slightly—just enough to let in fresh air without fully exposing the interior. This is ideal when:

Because this position doesn’t fully seal, avoid leaving the window in vent mode during heavy rain or while traveling. Condensation may still form if humidity is high or if inside temperatures are significantly warmer than outside air.

3. Open Position

In the Open position, the window swings out fully to allow maximum airflow. This is best used when:

Always make sure windows are fully latched closed before towing, washing, or storing your camper.
